The Frida Center for Fibromyalgia has reopened! After two years away, we are excited to begin again. The new Frida Center is in Lake Oswego, just south of the lake. Click here for a map and directions.

Dr. Ginevra Liptan is currently seeing established patients, and will begin seeing new patients later this summer. Dr. Liptan's current patients who would like to schedule can do so here. If you have any trouble with the scheduling system, send us an email and we'll get it sorted out.

Jamie Liptan, LMT, is seeing patients for myofascial release therapy. You can find out more about Jamie here, more about MFR here, and can schedule an appointment with him here (with an exciting introductory price).

The Frida Center for Fibromyalgia is an integrative medical clinic founded by a physician who has personal experience with this complex illness. Dr. Liptan developed fibromyalgia as a medical student, and spent many years using herself as a guinea pig in a search for effective treatments. In particular, addressing sleep dysfunction can result in impressive improvement in both pain and fatigue. A specialized manual therapy called myofascial release is very helpful in reducing fibromyalgia pain.

At the Frida Center, she uses the most effective and well-researched therapies from both conventional and alternative medicine in a new model called functional medicine.

Fibromyalgia is a medical condition characterized by widespread muscle pain and fatigue that affects 6-10 million people in the United States. Historically it has been a controversial and poorly understood diagnosis. Huge progress in research over the past decade has established dysfunction in sleep, pain and the stress response in fibromyalgia. As medical understanding of fibromyalgia has increased, so have our treatment options.

In the video below, Dr. Liptan provides an overview of the illness and describes possible treatment approaches.
